Autoresponder Services

It is important to choose the right Autoresponder Service right at the start. It is usually very difficult to simply import a list of email address from one Autoresponder service into another.

When Import functions are provided, it is likely that you will lose a significant percentage of your list during the transition. So, avoid the “free” services unless the list you want to build with them is disposable.

Here are a few suggested Autoresponder services in order of recommendation.

aWeber

aWeber is the undisputed leader in Autoresponder services. They have been around longer than any other Autoresponder service. This is the Autoresponder system the Big Boys and Gurus use. One big reason? Deliverability.

Their focus is on the Internet Marketing community. And because they are so ubiquitous, other Internet services and tools often provide very simple ways to interface with an aWeber form.

Email sent out by the aWeber mail servers generally gets delivered and does NOT wind up in your subscriber’s Spam Folder. aWeber has a reputation to uphold. They have strict rules which are not hard to follow and a very easy interface with for creating Broadcast and Followup messages.

Your first month costs $1 then $19/month for up to 500 subscribers, then $29/month for up to 2,500 subscribers.

Mad Mimi

Mad Mimi is starting to make a name for herself. Mad Mimi claims to be the easiest way to create, send, share and track email newsletters online. It’s for people who want email marketing to be simple.

Their FREE Plan will handle up to 2,500 contacts to which you can Broadcast up to 12,500 emails monthly. This would seem to be plenty of room for most users. However, if you want to do a “drip” campaign, an upgrade to their Pro version is required (500 contacts for $10/month, 1000 contacts for $12/month, etc).

It is reputed that they are more relaxed about permitting you to import an existing opt-in mailing list. Most other providers require your customer to opt-in again which will generally result in losing a large percentage of your list.

Constant Contact

Constant Contact is another premium Autoresponder service. Unlike aWeber, they advertise heavily in the media. Their target audience seems to be Yellow Pages advertisers. They are more oriented towards traditional Offline business.

They are not widely used within the Internet community. It is rare to see any provision to interface a Constant Comment form into a web site by other application developers and services.

They cost just slightly more than aWeber. They offer the first 60 days of service free for up to 500 subscribers then $15/month for up to 500 subscribers, then $30/month for up to 2,500 subscribers.

GetResponse

Get Response is similar to aWeber. They advertise high deliverability and they cost a bit less than aWeber. They offer a free 30 day Trial and charge $15/month for the first 1,000 subscribers.

They are widely used and are a good alternative to aWeber. Some applications and tools provide built-in interfaces.

Their Legal Notice page makes it appear that they are headquartered in Poland.

MailChimp

MailChimp is a whimsical Autoresponder system that hates Affiliate Marketers. If you do any Affiliate Marketing (whether or not you actually intend to use MailChimp for Affiliate Marketing), steer clear of MailChimp. They will cancel your account.

The Mail Chimp interface is more complicated and less intuitive than any of the systems already mentioned. But, they try to keep you laughing while you learn.

They do have a “Free Forever” plan which permits you to send out up to 12,000 message per month to your subscriber list. Paid plans (with unlimited messages) start at $10/month for the first 500 subscribers, then $15/month for up to 1,000 subscribers.
